Transportation Safety Day

2nd December, 2017 marked the 6th National ‘Transportation Safety Day’ and this year’s theme was ‘Obey Laws, Observe Disciplines& Travel Safely and civilly’. So as to further promote Anqing Foreign Language School’s traffic safety education, strengthen teachers and students’ self-rescue and rescue abilities during traffic accidents in addition to minimizing the loss caused by road accidents, on the morning of 1st December, 2017, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Youth League Committee organized student representatives from the Primary and Junior High Departments to head for the Traffic Police Detachment with Anqing Public Security Bureau to visit and learn.
First of all, students watched the traffic safety video elaborately made by the traffic police. Students were shocked when they saw the road accidents happen on their familiar streets in the video. They were quoted as saying, ‘It is really dangerous that battery cars travel on motor ways. I shall tell mom to ride on bicycle lanes.’ ‘Drivers respond slowly after drinking alcohol so that they may not respond in time when emergencies occur. Therefore, we mustn’t drive any vehicle after drinking, motorcycles and battery cars included.’ ‘It turns out that crossing the road is dangerous indeed. I won’t horse around on the way from school. On the contrary, I shall walk on the pedestrian crossing, look around and pay constant attention to the vehicular traffic.’
Second of all, student representatives were invited to tour the command center of the Traffic Police Division and they developed keen interest towards the technique use in the traffic command center. Students exclaimed that the traffic police not only directed the traffic on the road, escorted pedestrians to cross the street, but also guaranteed everyone’s travel security through science and technology.
To conclude, the Traffic Police Department gave out traffic safety pamphlets to each student. As the saying goes, powerful motherland depends on powerful youth. The Traffic Police Department encouraged student representatives to be citizens who promote courteous travelling and become publicity advocates who practice courteous travelling as well in order that students will pass on to everyone the concepts of safeness and civilized travel.
